Plate Bending Analysis With Boundary Element Method

In this book, boundary element formulations are presented for analysis of shear deformable plates (plate bending). As a foundation of the new formula developed, the large deflection and the plasticity for shear deformable plates are also presented in this book. The new formulations allow for material experiencing large deflection and small strain. Shear deformable plate due to Reissner and two-dimensional elasticity are adopted to represent the behaviour of the plate in large deflection. Classical theory of plasticity is considered, and an initial stress formulation is employed to formulate the boundary integral equations due to plasticity. The von Mises criteria is used to evaluate the plastic zone. A total incremental method is applied to solve the nonlinear system of equations. Elastic perfectly plastic as well as linear hardening material are considered.
